Expresii Wins Embarcadero Cool App for November

Digital painting app powered by Delphi brings realistic watercolors to life

Austin, Texas – November 21, 2016 - Embarcadero Technologies (a division of IDERA), a leading provider of software solutions for application development, today announced that Expresii has won its Cool App contest for November. Expresii is a revolutionary Windows paint app built on Delphi and powered by real-time physics simulation to give the best experience in digital brush and ink painting.

“At times I had to switch to C++ or C#, but I find I keep coming back to Delphi.”

Realistic watercolor simulation has been a major challenge in digital painting technology. Many popular paint programs offer "watercolor brushes" but they lack fluidity, which essentially is the charm of the medium. Expresii’s MoXi paint simulation brings watercolor simulation to a new level using Computational Fluid Dynamics. Coupled with an expressive deformable virtual brush, Expresii provides the ultimate brush and ink simulation.

“Expresii enables true artistic expression in the digital world, which is a noble calling for its developers,” said Jim McKeeth, lead developer evangelist and engineer at Embarcadero. “Using Delphi, they are taking digital painting to a level that was only dreamed of a few years ago. I congratulate Expresii and look forward to seeing the artistic achievements from its users in the coming years.”

“Delphi has long been my choice for prototyping and rapid application development,” said Expresii founder and developer Nelson Chu. “At times I had to switch to C++ or C#, but I find I keep coming back to Delphi.”

Embarcadero’s Cool App contest is open to any business or consumer application built with RAD Studio, Delphi or C++Builder. Qualifying apps can use VCL, FireMonkey, DataSnap, EMS, FireDAC, InterBase and any other components, libraries, services, sites, infrastructures, APIs or devices. Embarcadero awards Cool App contest winners a $500 Amazon gift card and winning submissions are also highlighted on the company’s YouTube channel.
