Latest update to software development platform includes tools to build natively compiled apps for Google Glass; opens new opportunities for app developers in the Internet of Things (IoT) market
SAN FRANCISCO – September 16, 2014 — Embarcadero Technologies, a leading provider of software solutions for application and database development, today highlighted its expanded support for Google Glass in the latest update to its Appmethod software development platform. Developers planning or building apps for the Internet of Things (IoT) can now use Appmethod to create connected apps across any device or form factor, including Google Glass.
The Appmethod September 2014 Release enables developers to easily connect to apps that can be deployed and debugged directly onto Glass. Developers can use the tools provided to design and optimize user interfaces, and build natively compiled apps for Google Glass that deliver best-in-class performance with an optimized user experience for Glass. New Appmethod features include:
- FireUI: Combines a multi-device UI designer, layout components, and rendering technology that vastly improve team productivity by enabling apps for multiple platforms to be built using common user interface source code such as event handling and UI logic, yet deliver the native platform experience by optimizing specific device form factors. Developers can now design and create apps with FireUI for an optimized form factor using the Google Glass design surface.
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi App Tethering: Developers using the new release of Appmethod can instantly and easily connect to any wireless or Internet-connected gadgets, sensors and devices via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi app tethering. Appmethod’s integrated wireless support works with thousands of “off-the-shelf” consumer and industry-specific devices, including Google Glass.
- Single App Development Platform and Shared C++ Codebase: Developers can build natively compiled apps that run directly on wearables (including Google Glass), mobile and desktop devices, sensors, gadgets, cloud services, and data.
- Glass dark style theme for correctly styled apps: An optimized style to deliver the best user experience on Glass.
